Gonna Play my Guitar

from Make the Voices Dance by Liz Armour

/

about

This track was based around taking a demo version of a backing track created within a popular app on a journey which ultimately deconstructs in and takes it in a completely new direction. the lyrics were written in response to the track, and are written in the character of someone off to play guitar (badly) in a jam night. It seems to compliment the track well, and the fact that the track turns into a horn extravaganza of jazz creates a kind of surreal feel to it.

lyrics

Gonna Play My Guitar

Night,
White
Lights
Keep it Bright…

Night,
White
Lights
Keep it Bright…

Now I’m sitting in the car
Gotta get out and go to the bar
And I’m wondering what its all about
Do I wanna get out? Do I wanna get out?

Gonna go to a folk night
Gonna play my guitar
Gonna go to a folk night
Gonna play my guitar
Hurrah. Hurrah
(Gonna play my Guitar)

Everyone’s gonna hear my licks
gonna hit 'em with it see what sticks
gonna grab that neck so tight
Gonna make my music right!!

Hurrah!
Gonna find my star..

Fada da digudugahdagaduh!

In reality I’m not that good -
But this is what I sound like in my dreams!

In reality I’m not that good
But this is what I sound like in my dreams

In reality I’m not that good
But this is what I sound like in my dreams

I'm a sensitive musician...
