Another track using lyrics that came from an earlier song.. it connects back in time to when I was living in Sheffield after many years living abroad, or travelling (hence the "lonely room").. I exaggerated the sentiments to create the conflict the "She" of the song is experiencing.
When I hear the song now, I imagine myself in the Park Hill flats where I lived for a while. I used to be able to look out over the city, and in winter pre-Christmas especially the lights of the city were quite spectacular, and quite unlike what I had been used to.
lyrics
Well I was sitting in my lonely room
And suddenly I said I thought of you
I was sitting in my lonely room
And I was staring out just at the view
Skyscrapers they wink and hissed at me..
Bridges lights cut through the dark
It's nearly Christmas all is jollity.
But in my heart it's cold and stark
You don't know what you have done to me
She said - you don't know what I went thro (I would do)
To get my heart my love the very core of me..
That is what I gave and lost to you...
Yes I was sitting in my lonely room
And suddenly I said I thought of you
And I was sitting in my lonely room
And I suddenly I said I thought of you...
